New boats are constructed out of these materials:
-Carbon Fiber, (very stiff and light), direct size “S” glass (for outstanding impact resistance), and vinyl ester resin (epoxy-like toughness without the need for high temperature curing).
-Polycarbonate
-Foam core fiberglass
-Vacuum bagged laminate of stitched fiberglass
-Polyethylene

 

Older boats are made out of more traditional materials:
-Mahogany
-Cedar or cedar laminate
