Many Thanks!

I want to thank Professor Uli Wiesner and all the students in the Wiesner Group at Cornell University's Department of Materials Science who allowed me to participate in their research on polymers while I took part in the program Research Experience for Teachers (RET II) during the summer of 2001. Uli is the Science professor we all dream of having, dedicated to all his students and passionate about his work. I must especially thank graduate student Phong Bort Du who was my mentor during the summer. Phong taught me a great deal about the cutting edge research being done on polymers and patiently answered all my questions. Also thanks to Carole Daugherty, Research and Teaching Support Specialist at the Cornell Vet School, who demonstrated to Phong and I how to use the SEM to look at the thickness of our films.

I owe a great deal to the
Cornell Center for Materials Research, especially Nev Singhota, Educational Outreach Coordinator, who with Dr. Helene Schember, its Associate Director, truly go out of their way to help the RET and REU participants in our program. Ivan Johnson, CCMR's Office Computer Manager was instrumental in helping me with all my computer needs.

The RET (II) program was made possible by a grant from the National Science Foundation.
