Catalyst of Sauron: Show is a ring of iron nanoparticles (height: 9 nm) used as catalyst for the grown of carbon nanotubes. The faint ring around the outside is residue from the photolithography step that defined the catalyst pad. Sauron searches everywhere for the One Ring.
