Multi-walled carbon nanotubes with polystyrene beads grown from their surfaces via free radical polymerization. The polymer beads are easily seen along the nanotube surfaces. Functionalizing nanotubes with polymers yeilds materials that have potential applications for nanocompsites, electronics, and biomaterials.
