Crenated polyurea microcapsules, encapsulating branched polyamine, can swell in polar solvents and are potent catalysts for Henry reaction. Polyamine is sequestered inside and therefore site-isolated. Thus, these microcapsules can be used in tandem with catalysts that are otherwise incompatible with polyamine. Easy preparation, handling, and activity define this system.
