UHV-STEM
Bright-field STEM image of CdSe quantum wire junction displaying crystal boundaries. The wires grow as a (nearly) single crystal along axes at three different angles from a catalyst particle. This slight angle difference creates crystal boundaries between wires at the junction. As growth continues, the crystal disassociates into individual wires.
