Utilizing Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID) technology, the MPMS-XL sample magnetometer achieves magnetic measurement sensitivity (~1x10-8 emu), dynamic range, and reproducibility in key areas such as high-temperature superconductivity, biochemistry, and magnetic recording media. Currently the SQUID is run on an as-needed basis only. All measurements other than those requiring sensitivity approaching the SQUID limit can be done using the VSM option in the PPMS.
