High angle annular dark field image of the 'charge ordered' lattice modulation in (Bi,Ca,Sr)MnO3. The modulation can be seen as horizontal stripes in the image and satellite reflections in the electron diffraction pattern (inset). The contrast mechanism that gives rise to the stripes is not yet understood.
