Pre-Seed Workshop (PSW)

The PSW program consists of vigorous hands-on sessions designed to vet university or entrepreneurs’ inventions in order to determine if they could serve as a basis for new startup companies. Workshop teams are comprised of subject-matter experts who offer legal, financial, business, and technical advice related to an inventor’s raw idea. The team helps the inventor understand the technology and its applications, and then helps to analyze the business potential of their invention.

Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Workshops

Small businesses are eligible for both the SBIR and STTR programs of the U.S. government. SBIR is designed to provide early-stage R&D funding to small technology companies (or individual entrepreneurs who form a company). STTR is a similar program—though it requires that the company work with a not-for-profit research institution or national laboratory on the proposed project.

These sessions are sponsored by the CCMR and organized by the Cornell Institute of Biotechnology.
