Project Description: Up until recently, metamaterials and metasurfaces have been fabricated on large substrates. That prevented their applications for remote sensing, medical applications, etc. The goal of this project will be to fabricate plasmonic and dielectric metasurfaces on the tip of a chalcogenide fiber, and then use them for sensing applications. Time permitting, temperature-sensitive metamaterials chat change the intensity and polarization state of light will also be explored.
