Light-twisting materials created from nano semiconductors

Scientists from the lab of Prof. Richard D. Robinson, Associate Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Cornell Engineering, used “magic-sized clusters” made from cadmium-based semiconductor compounds to transform symmetrical semiconductor particles into intricately twisted, spiral structures – or “chiral” materials – producing films with extraordinary light-bending properties.
