Optical, Electrical, and Thermal Measurements of Nanoscale Magnetism

ProfessorGregory Fuchsgdf9-profile
Project DescriptionAlthough the dynamical behavior of nanoscale magnetic particles and devices is increasingly relevant to technology, there are relatively few options to probe the dynamics on this scale. In this project, students will participate in our group’s effort to develop new ways to study of nanomagnetic materials and devices by combining optical, electrical, and thermal approaches. We are interested in studying the behavior of magnetic materials to understand new ways to control their dynamics. Students will gain experience with optical characterization, computer-controlled measurement, and integration of optical measurements with gigahertz-frequency electrical measurement and control.
