Thermo Fisher Krios
Thermo Fisher Krios Details
Location: Piscataway, NJ at the Rutgers CryoEM & Nanoimaging Facility (RCNF). Director: Prof. Jason Kaelber
The 300kV Krios TEM is optimized for high-throughput, high-resolution imaging for single particle cryoEM and tomography applications.
This instrument is available to anyone. Please contact Mariena for more info on how to access this tool.
- A high-brightness Schottky electron source (X-FEG) is used for high image resolution
- 300kV provides a longer mean free path enabling imaging of thicker specimens
- Autoloader allows up to 12 grids to be loaded under liquid nitrogen and kept under vacuum ready for imaging
- Automatic liquid nitrogen filling allows unattended operation
- Stable stage for low-drift imaging at cryogenic conditions and capable of high tilt for tomography (+/- 70° tilt)
- K3 direct electron detector for high-quality TEM imaging
- Gatan BioQuantum energy filter: zero-loss filtered imaging for increased contrast, especially in thicker specimens
- Automated data collection for single particle EM and tomography using EPU or SerialEM software
- Available modes of operation: single-particle cryoTEM, cryo-electron tomography, and microED
