Quantum Design DynaCool PPMS
Quantum Design DynaCool PPMS Details
Clark Hall D21 (Primary Staff: Steve Kriske; Secondary Staff: Jon Shu)
The DynaCool system represents Quantum Design’s latest generation of physical property measurement system, featuring a fully cryogen-free cooling system, allowing the following environmental parameters:
- Temperature range of 1.8 – 400 K (standard hardware)
- Magnetic field range of -9 to 9 T
- Cooling to ~0.4 K via He-3 probe
- Vacuum (~10-5 torr) operation available
- VSM Oven accessory extends upper temperature limit to 1000 K (VSM measurements only)
Basic transport measurements (i.e. resistance vs. temperature or resistance vs. field) can be performed using the Resistivity measurement option. QD's van der Pauw-Hall system provides automated contact switching and associated calculations for van der Pauw resistivity and Hall Effect measurements.
The system is equipped with the Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) option for DC moment measurements on film, powder, or small bulk samples. Both standard and large-bore measurement coil sets are available depending on sample size. Standard precision is ~1×10-6 emu for standard bore, and can be improved by increasing the measurement integration time.
